A 30-year-old man has been arrested after performing a dangerous stunt by clinging to his ex-wife’s moving car, in what authorities say stemmed from a personal dispute.

According to Assistant Commissioner Mohd Sohaimi Ishak, Chief of Police for Seri Alam, the incident came to light after an 11‑second viral video surfaced on social media showing the man hanging onto the hood of a moving vehicle. The footage was shared on the local Facebook group Komuniti Bandar Seri Alam.

Investigations revealed that the altercation began around 5:30 PM on Saturday (23 February) at a supermarket in Bandar Seri Alam. The man allegedly climbed onto the bonnet of a Suzuki Swift driven by his ex-wife and held on as the car moved slowly for about two kilometres. A group of men, believed to be the suspect’s friends, subsequently blocked the vehicle, forcibly seized items from the woman, and shattered the car window.

Tested positive for drugs

Following the incident, police arrested the man at 2 AM today (1 March) at Jalan Persisiran Seri Alam, Masai. The Johor Bahru Court has granted a seven‑day remand until 7 March to facilitate further investigation. Authorities confirmed that the suspect has no prior criminal record, but a urine test returned positive for ketamine, Mohd Sohaimi said in an official statement.

Police stated that the case is being investigated under Section 384 of the Penal Code for extortion, Section 427 for committing mischief, and Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug use. Convictions may result in imprisonment, fines, or both.

Authorities also urged the public not to speculate or spread unverified information about the case. Anyone with relevant details is encouraged to contact the investigating officer, Inspector Muhammad Arif Azlan Ali Ahmad, at 011‑6186 3876, or the Seri Alam police hotline at 07‑386 4222.
