A RM50 banknote reflects a Malaysian father’s quiet moment of pride.

What began as an ordinary morning — a father sending his eldest son to his part-time job while he waits for his further study results — soon became a memory he would never forget.

The son shared a portion of his first salary with his father

As his son was about to step out of the car, he turned back, shook his father’s hand respectfully, and quietly slipped RM50 into his palm.

“Dad, this is for your breakfast,” he said.

It was only RM50, earned by working long hours, during which he stood for hours, learning the meaning of hard work for the first time. But to a father, the amount did not matter.

For 18 years, he had raised his son, provided for him, worried about him, and sacrificed in ways children often only understand when they grow older. And today, for the first time, his son gave him money earned through his own sweat and effort.

A temporary gig before pursuing his studies

In his viral Threads post, the father thanked his son, even though he never expected anything in return. Because what truly touched his heart was not the money, but what it represented.

The thankful father ended his Threads post saying, “May the blessings from my son’s honest earnings bring goodness, protection, and a meaningful life for him in this world and the hereafter.”

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, the father, Hasbullah, explained that his 18-year-old son is working part-time at a restaurant while waiting to pursue his studies.

“He had just finished his SPM examination. For now, he’s working part-time to earn some money.”

Sometimes, the greatest reward for a parent is simply seeing their child grow up with gratitude in their heart.
