Penang School Leavers: Get Firsthand Experience as a Medical Student & More at This Open Day

If you’re a Penang-ite who just finished SPM, IGCSE or got your UEC results, you most likely have two questions in mind: a) “What’s next?”, and b) “Why are Open Days always held in KL?”.

Instead of rushing into a decision or making a trip to KL, what if you could experience actual university life first-hand right here in Penang?

For one day only, Sunway University is bringing its Open Day experience to Penang at Sunway Hotel Seberang Jaya, Perai on 9 May.

Whether you’re considering a career in Medicine, Nursing, Psychology or Biosciences, Sunway University’s Open Day is designed to let you try out real healthcare-related experiences before deciding on your future.

Here’s why Penang-ite youths should check out Sunway University’s Open Day @ Penang:

1. Interactive games to uncover your path

This Sunway University Open Day isn’t just about brochures and talks. If you’re considering a career in the medical field, you’ll have the chance to explore interactive game booths that’ll give you a feel of how each medical programme works, including:

• Mind Games, Unlocking Your Brain’s Hidden Code (Psychology)
Test your brain with neuropsychological quests that challenge your focus and memory.
• Seconds to Save (Nursing)
Take on a real-life choking rescue challenge and see if you have what it takes to stay calm under pressure and save a life.
• Future Surgeon Experience (Medicine)
Explore the human body like a real medical student and step into the world of surgery with virtual anatomy tools.
• Biodiscovery Lab (Biosciences)
Conduct hands-on experiments and explore everything from bacteria to blood analysis, even microbial art.

Regardless of your interest in healthcare, these experiential games would help you better understand what it takes to be a medical professional in these fields. Who knows, you might stumble upon your passion.

2. Experience life inside a real-life hospital

For illustration purposes only.

Here’s something you don’t see at any mere Open Day. Aspiring medical students will get to join an exclusive guided tour of Sunway Medical Centre Penang, where they can explore real hospital facilities, see advanced medical equipment up close, and learn about the range of specialised services offered.

It’s not just about the hospital either, you will also get a glimpse into Sunway’s integrated ecosystem, where education, healthcare and research come together to shape the future of medical professionals.

Plus, you can join an exclusive session led by a Professor and Dean from Sunway University’s Faculty of Medical and Life Sciences titled “Empowering the Next Generation of Healthcare Innovators”, which will share insights into future healthcare careers, what it takes to succeed in the field, and industry trends that are shaping medicine and health sciences.
