A tragic road accident has taken place in front of a school in Parit Sulong, Batu Pahat, Johor, involving a van and a pedestrian, resulting in the death of a young girl.

Details of the tragic incident

In a statement, Shahrulanuar explained that investigations by the District Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPTD) suggest the incident occurred as the van was exiting the school’s main gate. The vehicle was heading towards Jalan Simpang Lima-Parit Sulong after completing a delivery within the school compound.

The van then struck the eight-year-old victim, who was walking in front of the main gate. She sustained severe head and internal injuries and was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

“As a result of the collision, the Year 2 student of SK Seri Maimon suffered severe head and internal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical assistant from the Parit Sulong Health Clinic. The van driver, a 60-year-old local man, was uninjured,” Shahrulanuar added.
