We’re days away from the next General Election, but speculations about what may happen if each party wins have already surfaced. Just yesterday, the Secretary-General of PAS said that the party will combine with Barisan Nasional (BN) if they don’t win enough chairs in the upcoming GE15.

He also made it clear that PAS will only combine with BN, if needed, and will never seek an alliance with Pakatan Harapan (PH) and other parties. Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said that he expected BN will accept the alliance with PAS.

As of now, BN has yet to respond to the possible alliance, but the president of PAS himself had something else to say.

“Not gonna happen”

The President of PAS, Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang was not afraid to be blunt and said that the party will never combine with BN, a government that he deemed “unclean”.

“We would rather stay as the opposition. PAS has been the opposition for many years, and so far, we have no issues with that,” Hadi said.

According to Utusan, he also made it clear that even if Perikatan Nasional (PN) does not win in GE15, PAS will stick to its principles and not form an alliance with an unclean government in which some of its leaders still have ongoing court cases. Hadi then added,

“PAS is a party with principles and it’s not a dying party.”

Another report by Awani revealed that Takiyuddin’s suggestion for an alliance between PAS and BN was made prior to the dissolution of Parliament. Takiyuddin then said that a lot of  “clean” BN leaders have been sacked by the party recently and that alone should be the reason why people should reject the party.

Do you think PAS should stay with PN at the moment, or can you foresee a possible alliance between PAS and BN somewhere in the future?
