Just yesterday, news of a 12-year-old girl giving birth to a baby shocked the nation, because the father of the baby is only a Form 3 student.

According to The Star, the young girl delivered a baby boy in the toilet of her home in Teku, Sibu.
“She delivered the baby alone in her adoptive family’s wooden house in Kampung Bahagia Jaya at 6pm on Sunday,” Deputy Sibu OCPD Supt Martin Khoo said.
“Afraid that people would find out, she hid the newborn in the drawer of a storeroom cabinet,” he added.

The newborn baby was wrapped up in a towel and hidden in the cabinet located under the wooden house. The poor baby was only discovered by the girl’s sister at 4pm the next day, and she informed the house owner who then alerted the police.
The girl has no identification documents and she was not enrolled into any schools. When asked by the police, the girl admitted that she had given birth to the baby and hid it in the cabinet.
Perhaps the most astonishing part was that her pregnancy had gone unnoticed by her adoptive family for the past nine months, despite living under the same roof.
The girl also told the police that she has been seeing her boyfriend, who is a Form 3 student from the same village, since the end of 2016.
The boy has been picked up by the police to facilitate in the investigation. Both the mother and the baby were taken to Sibu Hospital for examination and treatment.

The case will also be investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape.
