Over the course of former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s trial as well as imprisonment, the spending activities of himself as well as his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor are being brought to light.

Such revelations included the fact that Najib had once bought a RM581,640 Channel watch for Rosmah as a birthday gift, and the fact that necklaces with with a large pink diamond worth approximately RM97 million was in Rosmah’s possession.

It appears that even more revelations have recently come to light. According to AFP, the governments of 6 countries spent more than US$750,000 (RM3.4 million) at the Washington hotel owned by former president Donald Trump while trying to influence his administration.

According to a congressional committee report released on Monday, the spending was by officials from China, Malaysia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates.

According to the committee, a total of US$259,724 (RM1.1 million) was spent at the Trump hotel in September 2017 by Najib Razak and his entourage.

Najib had stayed in the hotel’s presidential suite for US$10,000 (RM45,343) per night, the committee said, spending US$44,562 (RM202,055) over 3 days and another US$1,500 (RM6,801) on a personal trainer.

At the time, Najib was under investigation by the Department of Justice for his role in the 1MDB scandal.

Representative Carolyn Maloney, a Democrat from New York who chairs the committee, said the documents reveal that during the time the officials stayed at the Trump-owned hotel, “they were seeking to influence American foreign policy“.

The documents, Maloney added, “sharply call into question the extent to which President Trump was guided by his personal financial interest while in office rather than the best interests of the American people”.

What an insane amount of money spent in just 3 days! What do you think of this?
