Women-only coaches are designed to offer a safer and more comfortable environment for female passengers, enhancing the overall experience of women using public transport. However, there are instances where men occasionally manage to sneak in and occupy a seat.

In a recent viral TikTok video by user @kirayourblessings, she and her friend are shown taking the train home, sitting in the women’s only coach.

The video shifted when they noticed men occupying seats clearly designated for women. Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, she mentioned that this wasn’t the first she faced men sitting in the women’s only coach.

Naturally, she and her friend decided to bravely approach the men.

She noted that,

“We usually don’t film ourselves approaching men, but we decided that we should film this time in case anything happens. My friend decided to approach this guy who was standing in the connecting area of the WOC, she told him in a mild manner that he was not permitted to be there.”

@kirayourblessings shared that when her friend confronted one of the men, he laughed at her and insisted he wasn’t in the women’s only coach but in the connector, so it didn’t count.

Her friend, feeling intimidated by the man’s size, chose to walk away. Another passenger nearby, overhearing the conversation, joined in, sharing her own experiences of dealing with similar situations.

Not long after that, the same man came back, scolding and shouting at them, claiming they lacked common sense and were disrespectful. He defended being in the women’s only coach by stating he was with his sick mother.

In response, she pointed out that he could have accompanied her in the other coaches, expressing respect for his care for his mother but emphasizing that he shouldn’t be in the women’s only coach.

“Sadly, this was not my first or last time experiencing a hostile situation in the women’s only coach. I’ve had men threaten to hit me, I’ve had men publicly shame and humiliate me just because I stood up and told them to go.”

@kirayourblessings also shared how the whole experience made her more aware of the everyday challenges that women face, all so that men can maintain a sense of entitlement.
