We often hear of females facing sexual harassment, but just because we rarely hear about males being sexually harassed, it doesn’t mean that it isn’t happening.

Just last week, a male Uber driver lodged a police report that he was sexually assaulted by an allegedly drunk male passenger during a trip on Tuesday midnight. According to Chinapress, the 39-year-old man, who just joined Uber as a full time driver three weeks ago had picked up two male passengers and drove them from Taman Desa to Petaling Jaya.
At about 12.45am, the driver dropped one passenger off and the other man who was sitting in the back seat suddenly decided to move to the front passenger seat.
According to FMT, the driver said,
“After shutting the car door and as the car was moving, he suddenly grabbed my penis. It was painful. Before that, he had asked me to perform oral sex on him. The passenger also asked me if I was married and told me that marrying a man would be better.”

After that traumatising incident, the driver said his alleged molester instructed him to pick up his friend again as he had gotten off at the wrong location. The Uber driver fearfully complied and picked up the friend and dropped his assaulter later at a restaurant in Petaling Jaya and the other person at his house.
The victim said that he was really scared at that time as the passenger had an evil-looking, creepy smile on his face and the perpetrator’s groping left him in physical pain for 12 hours. How horrible! He also remarked, “I really thought he wanted to rape me.”

Because of that horrible incident, he has been suffering psychological trauma and after dropping both of them off, he broke down and cried.
He added that he does not work much after sundown ever since that incident. “Every time a male passenger sits in the front seat, I will feel uneasy. At times, I feel as if an invisible hand is going to grab my penis,” he says.

However, the poor Uber driver was afraid to lodge a police report at first as he was scared that the police would not take any action against the sexual assault he faced. He consulted Kulai MP Teo Nie Ching, who told him that he should definitely do it and he decided to take her advice to make a report two days after the incident.
“I told him he definitely should,” Teo highlighted in a Facebook post.
“So, yes, men can also be victims of sexual crime, and it is not funny. We should treat all sex crime victims in the same manner.”
Remember people, sexual assault can happen to anyone, anywhere regardless of their gender and age and no one is EVER asking for it!
