The Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) and the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) of Singapore continued their wholesome tradition on each country’s respective National Days recently, as the latter presented special birthday cakes with the colours of the Jalur Gemilang to their Malaysian counterpart on Friday (30 August) in conjunction with our country’s 67th Merdeka Day celebration yesterday.
Taking to its official Facebook page, ICA shared photos of the 2 countries’ front liners meeting for the wholesome exchange, including the adorable cake with red, blue, white and yellow colours, as well as the Kuala Lumpur skyline in the background.
The Malaysian Immigration Department receives special birthday cakes from their Singaporean counterpart
In the post, ICA shared that to commemorate Malaysia’s 67th Merdeka Day, ICA Commanders from Woodlands and Tuas Checkpoints presented cakes to their counterparts in JIM.
The Singaporean authority further asserted,
“ICA look forward to continuing our strong partnership, facilitating trade and safe travels at our land borders.”
Attached to the post are several photos of ICA representatives sending the birthday cakes to their counterparts north of the Causeway, including an adorable photo of the Deputy Chief of Immigration at Bangunan Sultan Iskandar, Puan Vimala A/P Ramalinggam taking a selfie together with ICA and JIM personnel.
Meanwhile, the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar Immigration Department’s official Communications and Corporate Unit Facebook page shared the interaction from JIM’s end, thanking ICA for the special birthday cake.
The post asserted,
“Thank you and we hope that this tradition will continue every year as a symbol of the goodwill between the authorities of our 2 nations.”
The Consulate General of Singapore also sent a birthday cake to the Malaysian Immigration Department
Besides that, the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar Immigration Department’s official Communications and Corporate Unit also shared that they received another special birthday cake from the Consulate General of the Republic of Singapore for Merdeka Day.
This time, the cake is shaped in the numbers 6 and 7, as well as adorned in a floral theme to commemorate Malaysia’s 67th Merdeka Day.
