Our front liners are getting hit hard by the pandemic. Other than doing all that they can selflessly helping those infected with the virus, some of them are getting infected as well. As of 21 March, as quoted by Malay Mail, it was revealed by Health Director-General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah that 19 health workers from the ministry and five from the private sector have contracted Covid-19.

From all of them, two are currently being treated in intensive care. Dr Noor Hisham, however, said that the infection is not caused by any faulty protective measures. He elaborated that,

“The result of the investigation revealed that all of them were of close contact with the first and second generation of the Masjid Jamek Sri Petaling tabligh congregation.”

Malay Mail has also quoted Senior Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof as he sternly reminds the public to clearly declare if they were in contact with a Covid-19 patient. This is to actually prevent our front liners to fall victim as well. He said,

“Many doctors and nurses have been infected with Covid-19. Therefore, those who have close contact with a person who is positive for the infection, please inform to the hospitals or clinics when you visit them. If they fail to do so, they could be arrested and stern action will be taken against them.”

We would like to again urge the public to follow the MCO and if you come in contact with any potential Covid-19 patient and you have the symptoms, please get yourself tested as soon as possible and be clear with your details to our heroic front liners.
