“The Malaysian Embassy in Phnom Penh continues to actively pursue efforts to track Malaysian citizens who are reported to be victims of this scam syndicate in Cambodia,” the press release reads.

In addition to Cambodia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through other Malaysian Embassies is intensifying efforts to rescue Malaysian citizens who have become victims of this syndicate in Laos, Myanmar and Thailand.

Based on the records of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the statistics of syndicate victims show that the number of people who have been successfully rescued are 16 in Thailand, 27 in Laos and 5 in Myanmar.

“The Malaysian Embassies in the countries involved will continue to multiply efforts and cooperate with the authorities of the host countries to locate and rescue the victims of the syndicate,” the statement said.

The scam sounds so scary! We are glad the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is doing their best in rescuing Malaysians.
