You really don’t want to judge a book by its cover, especially if you’re in the retail industry.

Just recently, a woman from China shared her experience with her dissatisfied husband on Douyin when they were both “hunting” for a new car. According to the woman, her husband does not bother to dress up regardless of where he goes.

On that day, her husband did not even bother to tidy up his hair and went to survey the cars in his pyjamas. Sadly, no one made the effort to entertain the pair.

“A lot of people were working when we were there. My husband was not happy, so we left immediately.”

She also revealed that her husband was not really keen on getting a new ride but he was merely looking around.

The pair tried their luck again by visiting another car dealership outlet just next door but this time, the man played it safe by giving an employee a heads up – he was not there to buy a car but just to survey.

He made it clear that he was NOT a potential customer but the employees there did not see that as an issue. They may have not made any sales from him but the husband received a hospitality like a King, a far cry from his previous visit.

“They served us hot teas, snacks, and even allowed my husband to test drive the car after explaning to him about the features.”

From not having the intention to spend on a new car, the employee’s enthusiasm motivated the husband to find out more about the car. In the end, he decided to pay for the deposits of the car and officially purchased it!

When the car was available for pickup, the husband purposedly dressed up for the occasion.

“The staff did not judge us based on our appearance and we thought we should repay him,” the wife said.

A person may not fancy himself in luxurious clothes but we’ll never know the amount of cash he has “stashed” in his account. As someone in the retail line, it’s best to carry out your responsibilities in serving the customers, regardless of who they are.
