Don’t walk alone in shady areas.”

“Don’t linger too long in your cars in the parking lot.”

As women, we are always told to be careful wherever we go. However, when we run into danger in the most common of places like the toilet, what other prevention measures are there to take?

Recently, a man had been discovered by a female teacher peeping into the women’s toilets of the Matsushita Sports Centre at the Shah Alam National Sports Complex.

In a video showing CCTV footage of the corridor outside the toilets, the man can be seen pacing around before entering the women’s toilets.

According to the text in the video, the man would allegedly check the queue in the toilet before entering and would stay in the toilet for half an hour.

Police are now hunting the man who is believed to have peeked at the female teacher on August 15.

Shah Alam District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the police received a report from the 32-year-old victim on the same day.

He said that the investigation found that the victim was at the sports centre accompanying students who were participating in the National Day Celebration parade.

“While the victim was in the women’s toilet, the victim noticed a man spying from the next-door toilet cubicle,” he said in a statement today.

He explained that the suspect fled after hearing the victim’s screams.

He said the suspect is suspected to be a Malay man and the complainant was only able to see from the top of his head to his eyes.

According to the victim, the suspect did not seem to be carrying any equipment used for recording during the incident.

“The investigation is now underway to obtain CCTV footage of nearby locations,” said Mohd Iqbal.

The case is now classified under Section 448 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offenses Act.
