Mass fish deaths were reported at Pantai Lido, Johor Bharu raising questions of rampant pollution in the area.

In its status, it also writes of how oxygen levels in the surrounding area have also dropped to 1.2 ppm which may lead to the death of marine life in the area.

The Johor Fisheries Department Zamani Omar said that the situation can be worse if domestic wastewater is also ejected into waterways of surrounding areas.

“This will prevent domestic waste from accumulating at one place and affecting the quality of the water for aquatic life.”

We urge local authorities to begin taking action and ensure that such an incident do not repeat itself in the future.
