If there’s anything this Covid-19 pandemic has shown us, it’s the fact that there are many Malaysians out there who are willing to work hard to make an honest living.
And it is our civic duty to assist those who are struggling and it’s only right for us to #sapotlokal.
Shafinaz Suhaimi took to her Twitter account to showcase a man in Johor Bahru who is selling balloons outside a Petronas station.
She wrote,
“For those who are staying in Johor Bahru, please help this pak cik. Buy balloons from him and give them to your children, nieces, nephews, etc. It’s the Petronas in Tampoi.
“I felt bad for him as there were no one around to buy. It was around 10pm already. No one was stopping to buy. So I decided to buy and when I asked him the price, he said ‘any sincere amount of your choice’.
She also shared that the man’s balloons were very pretty and definitely worth the stop to buy.
“I feel bad for him. Maybe he used to make balloons for parties and events, but due to the pandemic, events are 100% wiped out,” wrote one commentor.
“I’m not in Johor but I’m gonna share this story and hopefully more Johoreans will help him,” another one said.
While many might wonder why they should spend on something that isn’t a necessity, the man’s beautiful balloons can make anyone smile and that is certainly worth a small donation.
So, if you’re around Jalan Skudai and see this man selling balloons by the roadside outside of the Petronas station, remember to stop and purchase a pretty balloon because you wouldn’t know how much a small contribution can help the lives of others.
