In a grisly murder that occurred recently in Malacca, a 17-year-old has been identified as the suspect in the killing of his mother and 21-year-old elder brother.

The woman and her eldest son were found dead inside their home, while a 13-year-old boy was discovered injured outside on the porch. The suspect is the deceased woman’s second son, who, according to neighbours, is known to be a quiet individual.

Yuliyani Md Tuin, a neighbor who has lived next to the family for three years, said she often heard arguments coming from inside the house.

“Despite the fights, the family never caused me any trouble. I’ve never spoken to the 17-year-old, but he would smile at me whenever we saw each other outside.”

“I’ve never seen him angry with his mother or brothers when he was outside. The fights only happened inside the house,” Yuliyani told Malaysia Gazette.

She added that she was shocked to see police cars and an ambulance outside the house, as the arguments had never escalated to such a level before.

The bodies of the victims, Vernita Boon and her eldest son Jarek, were found at around 5 am on Thursday (June 12). On the same day, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) identified Vernita’s second son as the suspect. Both Vernita and Jarek had been stabbed multiple times.

PDRM also discovered a 20 cm folding knife in the suspect’s bag, believed to be the murder weapon.
