A Malaysian teacher and her eldest son were found dead at home in Malacca yesterday (June 12). On the same day, PDRM caught the murder suspect – the woman’s second son, who is only 17 years old.

It was premeditated murder

Investigations found that the suspect had planned to murder his mother, Vernita, but ended up killing his 21-year-old brother, Jarek, as well, after he tried to stop the suspect.

The suspect held a grudge after frequent scoldings from his mother, and the immense pressure got to him, especially as he was preparing to sit for the SPM examinations. A 20 CM folding knife, which was found in his school bag, was said to be the murder weapon used in the deaths of Vernita and Jarek.

Following their tragic deaths, an old Facebook post by the deceased mother is going viral.

“Be wise! Mummy loves you all!”

In the Facebook post, the deceased mother and teacher happily shared a video slideshow of their family photos, which was put together by the eldest son, Jarek. Vernita posted the video on Mother’s Day, expressing her gratitude and happiness in receiving the video from Jarek.

“Although I couldn’t celebrate Mother’s Day this year, I am still happy to receive my first family video that my son created for me.”

In her brief but heartwarming post, Vernita also expressed her hopes and dreams for her kids.

“Mummy just wants all of you to be obedient, grow up happily and healthily, and be wise. Mummy loves you all!”

In another Facebook post, Vernita also announced the passing of her husband in January this year.

In a Facebook post by SJKC Malim, Vernita is described as a loving, respected, and dedicated teacher, while her son, Jarek, was well-behaved at school and was friendly with everyone.

The funeral service will be held on June 15 at 12PM.

In the tragic incident, Vernita’s youngest son was found injured outside the porch of the house and was later sent to the hospital.
