The Ladies Parking is designated for women alone, and a Malaysian woman recently expressed her thoughts on men who park at spots that are not meant for them.

In a viral Facebook post by Limau Nipis, the woman said that she was targeting a spot in the Ladies’ Parking area, but to no avail. However, she was unhappy to see multiple men parking their vehicles in the area designated for women.

“In 5 minutes alone, I saw 3 cars parked at the Ladies Parking. All of the drivers were men.”

“They were not even disabled. They don’t even look feminine, but they couldn’t tell others’ rights.”

The woman also said that it saddened her to see a mother who came to the mall with three children but had to park further because the Ladies’ Parking, which was nearest to the entrance, had mostly been occupied by male drivers.

“It’s not a privilege, it’s meant to protect women”

The woman also lamented that the parking spots designated for women were not enforced without a reason. She then highlighted the gruesome murder of a Malaysian woman, Canny Ong, who was abducted at a parking lot in Bangsar, before she was raped and killed someplace else.

“But the parking spots for ladies were taken by men today. Why? Because it’s convenient for them.”

She also pointed out that the Ladies’ Parking is not an entitlement or a privilege for women, but merely a protection for them.

“For our mothers. For wives, for sisters, and for daughters.”

“We’re not asking to be protected, but at least don’t take away our shelters. Don’t feel guilty only when a crime happens.”

The woman then reminded everyone that the Ladies’ Parking is not a decoration, but it was enforced after a life was taken.
