UMNO Youth Chief, Dr Akmal Saleh will be providing free legal services to the OKU man who was beaten by several men at the market in Terengganu recently.
In a video posted on his Facebook, Akmal said he had instructed the UMNO Exco Youth and the legal team to find the victim immediately and offer him help. In his post, Akmal clarified that the perpetrators, who have been arrested by PDRM should be punished.
“We want to take legal action against those who did the heartless thing.”
He added, “We will hire a lawyer to help this brother and make sure that those involved, I think not three people but more, will be brought to court and punished accordingly.”
Akmal also said he was shocked and heartbroken to see the OKU man being dragged on the street after getting kicked in the face, dubbing the actions “inhumane” and “treating victim like an animal.”
“If you’re a man, I’ll see you in court. That’s not how a man acts, so I’ll teach you how to be a man.”
Acting Kemaman District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent Wan Muhammad Wan Ja’afar, said the men, aged 18 and 60, were arrested on Friday night.
The fight started when the OKU rider crashed into one of the stalls at the market, prompting other men to get physical towards him. You can read about the incident here.
Akmal also said the victim, regardless of his condition, shouldn’t have been treated in such a manner.
