The security guards of our house complexes and high rise buildings have an important task of making sure that we are safe and not under threat by anyone or anything.

However, sometimes, the guards can go above and beyond their duty in making sure that we are all free from threat.

In a report by China Press, a group of security guards at an apartment in Segambut managed to foil the attempt of a maid to kidnap her employer’s child.

The incident had taken place at an apartment in Segambut, around 12pm on Friday (February 17). At that time, a 35-year-old Nepalese man had been on duty at the guard house.

According to the report, the maid was left alone at home with the employer’s son as she had gone out to send her daughter to school.

He had grown suspicious of the kidnapping plot after a black Toyota SUV had attempted to visit the complex. The 2 people in the car then informed him that they were visiting an apartment unit.

As per protocol, he proceeded to contact the owner of the unit to ask if they were expecting visitors to which the owner informed him that they were not.

The guard then asked them to leave, however, to his surprise, the car drove past the guard house and straight to the lobby instead.

The guard immediately approached the SUV and requested they leave immediately, however he noted that the car had not gone far and was parked outside the apartment.

“It looked like they were waiting for someone.”

Feeling concerned about the situation, he went on to inform the apartment’s management who then went to check on the unit. Much to their surprise, they found the maid inside with a suitcase, apparently waiting for an opportunity to leave.

The guard and 2 of his colleagues who were also on duty at the time were instrumental in stopping the ploy. Expoam Security Services’ senior operations manager commended the trio and praised their dedication and attention to detail and will allegedly be rewarding them.

Meanwhile, Sentul district police chief Asst Comm Beh Eng Lai has confirmed that they did receive a report on the case and have also apprehended the maid involved.

The police are reportedly still conducting an in-depth investigation into the matter despite the child not actually leaving the house. As the maid did not confess to the allegation, the incident cannot be constituted as a kidnapping case.

Kudos to the guard and his colleagues for their vigilance! We hope that the get rewarded for their efforts.
