Turkey and Syria were not the only countries that were hit by the earthquake. On Saturday (February 12), an earthquake of 4.3 magnitude struck the northern Guangdong province, and the tremors could be felt in Hong Kong, reported South China Morning Post. The earthquake took place about 70 km north of the city.

However, a video that shows a kind man’s swift action in saving a kid during the disaster has gained much attention from netizens.

In a video shared on the Chinese platform Weibo, the man was initially sitting at the desk and scrolling through his phone. A child, who was the son of his employer was also seated nearby on the couch, with his eyes glued on the screen. When the earthquake struck, the man immediately stood up and escaped the house, without forgetting the little one.

He grabbed the child by his leg and carried him upside down to safety. He did so in just 5 seconds, like The Flash! If you notice, the child’s head touched the ground for a bit when the man carried him out of the house. According to the caption of the post, the man was asked by his employer to look after the child while his parents were out. Despite being carried upside down to safety, the child did not sustain any injuries.

“I’m so thankful that he did not just run away without taking my child along,” said one of the parents.

“I’m touched but it’s funny”

While many netizens found his rescue method funny, his swift action has received much praise online, with some of them highlighting that saving the child’s life is all that matters.

“As long as the child is safe, that’s all that matters. The man’s swift action during the critical time should be praised.”

“The kid nearly got his pants off.”

“The kid made sure the phone was in his hand all the time.”

“I’m touched, but it’s still funny and I’m laughing.”

“To the man, as long he could grab the kid, then it’s fine. But the kid was probably feeling the real ‘earthquake’.”

“The kid might be thinking, ‘It’s indeed an earthquake.”

When disaster strikes, it’s only natural for us to run for our lives, or at least find a safe spot to protect ourselves. But thanks to his swift action, the man has not only saved the life of a kid, but his action has also shown his kindness.
