Last night at around 11:45 pm, a cruel man tied up the limbs of an innocent pup and used a rope attached to his motorcycle to drag the poor doggo down the road against its will.
By the time the helpless creature was found by residents nearby, all four of its paws were bleeding profusely! The poor pup also suffered bruises to her chest and limbs.
According to China Press, the animal abuser was spotted committing the crime when he stopped at one of the traffic lights along the road leading to Sungai Petani Garden, Kedah.
“The witnesses described the dog being tied up and dragged away by the owner, the motorcyclist. The dog looked exhausted.”
“While its front legs were trying to keep up, it’s back limbs could no longer run at the speed at which the motorcycle was going. Yet, the motorcyclist kept accelerating”, said Su Ruxing, the director of the Kedah Animal Abuse Prevention Association.
What’s worse is that the abuser appeared to be drunk when he was confronted by residents and authorities!
When asked why he was treating the poor doggo this way, the man merely said that the dog kept fidgeting and would not sit properly in the basket of his motorcycle.
“The dog’s limbs have been injured. Its feet are so worn that you can see the flesh and blood from its paws. Its chest is also bruised heavily.”
Since the incident, the injured pup has been taken by the association and will be sent to a veterinary clinic today to assess the severity of its injuries.
Chen, the chairman of the association, has also released a statement in conjunction with the abuse to bring attention to the alarming number of animal abuse cases that have been reported lately. She advises all citizens and bystanders to stand up for these helpless creatures when they encounter animal abusers of any kind.
Thankfully, residents around the Sungai Petani area were alert and reported the matter immediately. They rescued the dog before it could’ve been severely manhandled. However, not all animals are so lucky.
She went on to say that some practices of raising animals such as long-term bundling or being confined to a limited space can be considered as animal cruelty nowadays but these are not intentional and mostly due to a lack of awareness.
Chen hopes that the Veterinary Bureau will hold more activities to educate the public about animal protection.
We hope so too! For the sake of all innocent animals that roam the streets.
