This is a really tragic incident! A case of an alleged murder and suicide just happened yesterday afternoon (November 20) at Sungai Petani, Kedah that completely shocked the nation.
According to NST, the bodies of a 48-year-old man and his three young children were discovered in their house in Perdana Height, Amanjaya at around 2pm by his mother-in-law. The Kedah Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Mior Farid Al Athrash Wahid confirmed the incident and said that the man was identified as S. Sivarau.

Tragically, his two sons Sashvin Rau and Ragu Ram Rau, and their sister Yamunasri were also found dead in the house. His daughter was only 8 years old while his two sons were 5 and 6 respectively. Sivarau was discovered hanging inside a room on the second floor of the double-storey house while his children were on the bed in the same room.
When their relative made the horrific discovery at about 1.30pm, it is believed that they had already been dead for about 12 hours. Based on initial investigations, Mior Farid said that Sivarau appeared to have killed his children by suffocating them with a pillow before hanging himself. That is just so sad!

Mior Farid added, “We did not find any physical injury on the children… (but) only the post-mortem examination can determine the cause of death. Their bodies have been sent to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital for the process.”
Sivarau, who was a contractor, had also lost his 38-year-old wife 20 days ago when she had committed suicide by hanging herself inside the same room that was to be his death scene as well. OMG that’s just devastating! The police believe that his motive for committing the murder and suicide was because he had been having financial problems.

Apparently, the deceased had visited his 20-year-old son and 19-year-old daughter from a previous marriage three days ago. According to his son, he said when his father visited him, Sivarau had told him that he was feeling depressed and sad but did not mention the reason.
“There was nothing unusual about him but I came to know that my three young siblings did not go to school since my stepmother died 20 days ago,” he said.
