Three cars and two motorcycles were damaged after a fireworks stall in Cheras caught fire last night (February 11). One of the owners of the car managed to share her experiences on that fateful night, which happened not long after she parked her car.
In a report by China Press, the owner of the Proton car said she just took the first bite of her bread inside Family Mart when the stall caught fire, setting off all fireworks.
The fireworks stall was right outside the convenience store.

The 30-year-old Ida said she was with her friend during the incident, and she parked her car in the 3rd parking space on the left of the fireworks stall. The plan was to grab something to munch on before going for the karaoke just above the store.

Ida took her first bite, and the fire started, damaging her car and others. Fortunately, the glass door of the store blocked the fireworks from coming in and kept everyone safe.
“Some people rushed in and sought shelter in Family Mart.”
“It happened for around 15 minutes, and for everyone’s safety, the staff told us to leave through the back door,” Ida said.

Ida walked through the back alley and went back to her car, only for a heartbreak after seeing the blaze damaging her beloved car.
In another report by China Press, Malaysian netizens who were at the scene claimed that the incident was allegedly caused by a child setting off fireworks in front of the fireworks stall, which subsequently caused the fire.

A screenshot of a dashcam video circulating online shows that at 8:28 PM last night, two children were seen squatting in front of the fireworks stall setting off fireworks.
Fortunately, no deaths or injuries were reported.
