Multiple Vehicles Damaged in Cheras After Fireworks Stall Catches Fire & Sets Off ALL The Fireworks

A fireworks stall in Cheras caught fire last night (February 11), causing all fireworks and firecrackers to explode.

5 cars and 2 motorcycles were damaged as a result of the explosion.

In a statement by the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), the Assistant Director of Operations, Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the incident took place at Dataran Cheras, and the department received a call about the matter around 9:53 PM last night.

13 firefighters were deployed to the scene to put out the blaze.

The cars that caught fire were a Toyota Vellfire, a Perodua Bezza, and a Proton Saga, with each vehicle sustaining 95%, 80%, and 40% burns, respectively.

As for the fireworks stall, it was completely destroyed, but no injuries or deaths were reported.

ADUN of Balakong, Ong Chun Wei was also present at the scene as shared on his Facebook post, and he thanked the authorities for their prompt actions in putting out the fire. In a report by Sin Chew, Ong said that he was nearby when he heard loud explosions.

“I went to the scene and saw a lot of people filming the incident without considering their safety.”

The cause of the fire, however, is still being investigated.
