Squid Game, the Korean Netflix series shook the world a few months back, and viewers are still asking for more. And it seems like the hype will continue to live on for now.
One video by @kamikeadilan went quite viral on Twitter after a Malaysian politician was seen using Squid Game as part of their campaign strategy.
In the video, the campaigner was wearing a guard suit from Squid Game and was seen giving out cards similar to the ones given by Gong Yoo when he recruited players to join Squid Game.
With Melaka’s State Election coming closer, politicians are using many different and creative approaches to win the hearts of voters.
The card reads, “Are you brave enough to take the challenge? Lets work together to win back Melaka!”
Netizens’ response to the campaign
Receiving 233.3k views and 432 retweets, the video received various responses from Twitter users.
“Creative but horrible meaning at the same time ?“
Many Twitter users express their disagreement towards the campaign, mentioning that in the actual Squid Game Netflix series, people that accept the invitation are just waiting for their death, as in the series only one player survives.
Some even stated that they cringed after watching the video because of the irony.
Despite all the backlash received, a number of Twitter users feel like the campaign was quite a creative strategy!
New norm campaign, people are very creative,”
Even the former Minister of Education, Maszlee Malik complimented the creativity used by the campaigner.
