Deceased Woman In Tawau Tests Positive For Covid-19, Authorities Looking For Close Contacts

The authorities are looking for individuals who came into close contact with a woman who died in an accident on 12 September at Jalan Chong Thien Vun in Tawau, Sabah.

The woman had tested positive for Covid-19 on 16 September, reported Astro Awani.

Tawau health officer Dr G Navindran said that the 75-year-old woman died after she met with a fatal accident near her house.

She is believed to be hit by a car while on her way home after buying breakfast nearby.

“Currently, we are tracking down all close contacts of the victim to conduct Covid-19 screening tests, including officers and policemen who handled the case as well as family members and individuals who helped with the victim’s body,” Dr G Navindran said.

The Benteng LD Cluster located in Lahad Datu and Tawau in the Sabah state has reported a total of 472 cases at the time of writing, according to the Ministry of Health.

As of 16 September at 12pm, a total of 7,247 individuals have been screened in this cluster. The breakdown of cases and results are as follows:

Lahad Datu (1,531 screened)

  • 141 positive cases
  • 1,306 negative cases
  • 84 awaiting results

Tawau (5,716 screened)

  • 331 positive cases
  • 2,764 negative cases
  • 2,621 awaiting results
