It’s not surprising that Malaysians rank quite highly in terms of obesity rates, with the Ministry of Health (KKM) recently sharing that 1 out of 2 adults are overweight and obese.
Similarly, it seems that this problem extends to our civil servants, especially those in Putrajaya. Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali recently revealed that half of all civil servants in Putrajaya are obese.
He said this was why it was important for civil servants to take part in healthy activities.
Zuki stated this when he spoke to reporters on the sidelines of a run in conjunction with the Car-Free Day program. He also said the run would be expanded to include every ministry and agency nationwide.
“It is essential for individuals to engage in health-promoting activities, such as running, to encourage a healthier lifestyle.”
Over 1,500 civil servants and their family members participated in today’s Car-Free Day programme, which is held monthly.
