DBKL Detains 5 Local & Foreign Parking Touts Targeting Road Users in City Centre, All Fined RM1.5k Each

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has detained and taken action against five parking touts following an operation conducted across the city centre.

Taking to its official Facebook page, DBKL revealed that the individuals, comprising both Malaysian citizens and foreign nationals, were taken to court, where they each received a fine of RM1,500.

Details of the operation

In an official statement, DBKL wrote:

“DBKL, through the Enforcement Department, carried out the Special Action Operation Series 3 of 2026 around Jalan Ampang, Jalan Ipoh, Jalan Chan Sow Lin, and Medan Imbi Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, on Thursday (2 April).”

As a result of the enforcement exercise, five individuals were apprehended: two Malaysians and three foreign nationals (one Bangladeshi and two Indians). The group was brought to court on Friday (3 April) to face charges.

All five were sentenced to a fine of RM1,500 each for offences committed under Section 50(3) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

DBKL urged the general public to report any encounters with parking touts via its official platforms.

“DBKL will continue to take action and monitor identified hotspots periodically. Any complaints or feedback from the public can be channelled through the official DBKL link provided,” the city council stated.
