15-year-old Yap Xin Yuan went missing in Cheras more than 10 days ago. A decomposing body was found in a river in Banting, Selangor, and PDRM believed it might be the missing teen.

In updated reports by Sin Chew and China Press, PDRM said 3 suspects have been detained, namely Xin Yuan’s 16-year-old boyfriend, the boyfriend’s brother (20), and his father (51), which was also confirmed by PDRM via an official statement.

The 16-year-old confessed to his involvement in the murder of Xin Yuan.

At the time of writing, police said the body has yet to be identified, and it is expected to take a little longer due to the condition of the decomposing corpse, with part of the deceased face allegedly bitten off by wild animals.

Currently, PDRM is still waiting for the complete DNA result. However, the deceased is confirmed to be 155 CM tall, had braces on her teeth, and was wearing a round earring and a black short, which so far matched the description of Xin Yuan.

“Xin Yuan never left her boyfriend’s house”

Earlier, the victim’s boyfriend said she was at his house on December 19 at 4 PM before she left an hour later. The CCTV footage near his house, however, showed otherwise.

The footage showed Xin Yuan reaching his house in Bandar Mahkota Cheras early in the morning and never leaving the place again. On the same day, the CCTV managed to capture Xin Yuan’s boyfriend and his brother suspiciously opening and closing the trunk of his car.

The 16-year-old also confessed that he got help from his family to discard Xin Yuan’s body into the river in Banting. Police also suspected that Xin Yuan met her demise before her parents held the press conference about their daughter’s disappearance.

Stay tuned as we keep you updated.
