Zensho Holdings Co Ltd, a Japanese restaurant operator reportedly bought a popular Malaysian restaurant brand for a whopping RM220 million. Yesss! RM220 million!
The Chicken Rice Shop, Malaysia’s very own homegrown food chain, was said to be acquired by Zensho Holdings Co Ltd last week. At that time, the purchase price was not disclosed.
However, an inside informer told Reuters that the sale was made at RM220 million. WOW! That’s a lot of money!
The acquisition causes the Japanese company to have a stronger foothold and presence in Southeast Asia. According to Free Malaysia Today, a source said that Japan’s Nomura was Zensho’s sole financial adviser on the deal.
Looks like I’m in the wrong industry!
