Have you guys been noticing these ‘no dine-in’ notices and announcements being blasted through Malaysian Twitter? Does it give you flash backs to the Movement Control Orders (MCOs) during the Covid-19 pandemic?

Well, fret not because this isn’t another lockdown!

Multiple Twitter pages from AWATNI Buzz to Jabatan Netizen Malaysia have been sharing these notices, emphasizing that ‘dine-in di kedai makan tidak dibenarkan‘ meaning ‘dine-in at restaurants are not allowed‘ starting March 23 (Thursday).

Dine In 1

And that may be true, but to clarify, it is only for our Muslim brothers and sisters as that’s when they’ll be fasting!

Yes, Ramadhan is just around the corner as it starts in the evening of Wednesday (March 22) and ends in the evening of Friday (April 21).

“JUST IN, In accordance with the Regulation Control Order 4.0, the dine-in ban will be enforced at all eatery premises from March 23 until April 22, 2023. ‘The local authorities will also take action against the Black Plastic Gang,’ according to a statement,” AWATNI Buzz wrote, jokingly.

Dine In 2

Though it is important to point out that the authorities will very much take action against our Muslim brothers and sisters who do not adhere to fasting (unless they’re really not feeling well), through buying food and hiding it in black plastic bags.

Hence, if you see these posts online, do not worry, it’s not another pandemic lockdown but a reminder that Ramadhan is fast approaching!

What do you think about this? Do feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.
