For many lower income groups, having a second job or running small businesses on the side is a norm to help earn an extra living. And you know what, the Unity Government wants to help with that.

According to the Fakta Bukan Auta Twitter page, the Unity Government has launched the People’s Income Initiative (Inisiatif Pendapatan Rakyat – IPR), that allows for B40 community members to run small businesses like selling food through vending machines.

The best part? The government will be bearing the costs of renting the vending machines and locations for 2 years!

Fakta Bukan Auta wrote, “Did you know, don’t be shocked after this when you get down from the LRT and you stumble upon vending machines that sell breakfast items for RM2. You can also be a trader provided that you are from the B40 community.”

“‘But, vending machines are expensive right?’, don’t worry, bro. The rental of the vending machine and the rental of the site, the Unity Government will pay for 2 years!”

Hence, for this 2 years, B40 community members can focus on running the business while the government takes care of the costs of rental.

“Yes, free for 2 years! You can come and display your food and sell. This program is called the People’s Income Initiative. It’s focus is to help B40 community members to earn extra income. The vending machines will be placed at strategic locations – LRT stations, schools, hospitals and more,” they added.

This initiative is being run by the Economy Minister, Rafizi Ramli, who has received praise for the focus on championing and uplifting the B40 community.
