The process of moving into a new house can be exciting and hectic at the same time. There are tons of items to be moved, and things are not made easier if we run into any conflict with the movers.

Recently, on her Facebook post, Arissa shared her dissatisfaction with a lorry rental service with the company known as Abang Lorry, which she claimed charged her extra at the last minute. Arissa requested a 1 tonne lorry. With the initial quotation of RM250, it came with two helpers, to which Arissa agreed.

However, on the day of moving, it was a 5-tonne lorry that reached outside her doorstep, and not a 1-tonne lorry.

“They told me they had another job that required a 5-tonne lorry after my house, so they might as well bring a 5-tonne lorry,” the driver told Arissa.

She didn’t think it would be a big issue, so she allowed them to proceed without asking further questions, but that was when the “drama” started.

“This is more than 1 tonne, upgrade please”

In the midst of loading her stuff onto the lorry, one of them told Arissa that they have exceeded 1 tonne, which shocked her.

Here’s what she had,

  • A 9.5 kg washing machine
  • A 6 feet vanity mirror
  • A bar table with 2 stools
  • A king-sized mattress
  • Small items packed in a few boxes

After discussing it for a bit, the driver asked Arissa to upgrade the capacity. As she was running out of time, she was about to agree with the suggestion to upgrade the capacity, but when she asked the driver about the quotation for an upgrade, Arissa wasn’t too happy with the response.

“Double lah!” the driver allegedly told Arissa arrogantly.

This means she had to fork out RM500. Regardless, they proceeded to load her stuff onto the lorry. Once again, the driver told Arissa that it has exceeded 2 tonnes, and she has to upgrade the capacity AGAIN. This time, Arissa lost her patience.

“You can’t do this to me! How do you even know if the space has been occupied when you drove a 5-tonne lorry here?”

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Arissa said that she immediately contacted the person in charge of the company, but it did not make things any better.

“I feel like the admin of the company sided with the driver, and he was quite rude too,” she said.

Eventually, the PIC asked the driver to unload all of her items and they left the scene.

Arissa also told WORLD OF BUZZ that she only managed to find a replacement lorry 3 hours after they have left her house.

“I found another lorry through Lalamove 3 hours after they left.”

It must have been a long day after the conflict with the initial lorry drivers and having to wait for “rescue” to arrive 3 hours later. Judging from the image above, do you think the workers could’ve arranged the items properly to make more space? Have you encountered such a situation while dealing with movers?
