It’s 2023, and with the ministers making promises to make the country great again, many Malaysians believe we’re on the track to becoming a developed country. But sometimes, those unspoken little flaws make us pause for a bit, step back and wonder, is our country developing in all aspects?

A Malaysian, Adam, recently shared an image on his Twitter post, which shows many motorcycles parked on a sidewalk. The scene upset him a lot, and to him, the occupied sidewalk hints that our country Malaysia is far from being a developed country.

“This is one of the reasons why Malaysia will never be a developed country,” he said in his captions.

Adam then continued and said, “How are the pedestrians going to walk? The riders get mad if I call them ‘3rd world mentality’.”

In response to a comment that said motorcyclists saw no other options as the place is lacking in parking spots for motorcycles, Adam said that he was simply expressing his thoughts from a pedestrian’s perspective.

“You don’t need to ride a bike to see how stupid it is to park on the sidewalk which brings inconvenience to the pedestrians,” Adam added.

The person then replied to Adam’s response and highlighted the lack of parking spots for motorcycles, as well as the cars that are obviously (and illegally) parked at the side of the road.

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Adam said that the picture was taken on a slip road between Fahrenheit 88 and the Starhill Gallery in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur.

In case you’re wondering why Adam did not walk on the inner sidewalk, Adam told WORLD OF BUZZ that it’s blocked by a Mamak restaurant and another shop lot which is currently under renovation.

“I would just kick the bike over”

Adam’s tweet has received much attention, with many Malaysians sharing the same thoughts and expressing how similar sights at different places irritate them.

“A motorist in TTDI parked in front of us on the walkway, I told him this isn’t a parking space, and then he told me to f**k off.”

“In Damansara Uptown, I was honked by a food rider for standing on the pedestrian walk because I was blocking his way??”

“Motorcyclists? Driver? Just the same”

In the meantime, some netizens did not agree with Adam’s point of view, as they believe that both riders and drivers are breaking the rules.

“If the cars are parked at the yellow line, why can’t the riders park the motorcycles at the same place? Might as commit the same offence together.”

“Not to take sides, but the motorcyclists are definitely at fault. But the area does not have a parking space for them, it’s really inconvenient, that’s why the pedestrian’s walkway becomes narrow.”

“Two wheels or  wheels, they behave just the same.”

Fellow Malaysians, do you think it’s fair for the riders to park their motorcycles on the walkway, given the lack of parking spots? We cannot deny that it’s a common sight at almost everywhere, but do you think we should seek a solution for this matter, or leave things the way they are?
