Following the chaotic period prior to the formation of the unity government, a number of politicians are still not happy with the current government, despite it being a suggestion from the King.

Perikatan Nasional (PN)’s Faizal Azumu dubbed the new government a political arrangement between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN). Just last night (November 28), the Chairman of PAS, Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang also expressed his own take on the unity government, and why he refused to be part of the coalition.

“Anwar Ibrahim’s government does not walk the talk”

Hadi Awang said that the government led by Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim is a minority government. Not only that but Hadi believes that the government also cakap tak serupa bikin (does not walk the talk).

“More than 80% of Malay voters choose Perikatan Nasional, and other races also choose us. Not only Malays, but also Indians, Chinese and non-indigenous people in Sabah and Sarawak.”

This support alone is enough for PN to form a legitimate government, according to Hadi.

Other than that, he also said he refused to join Anwar’s government because the coalition is not dominated by Muslims.

“Now the coalition government is dominated by the DAP, a non-Muslim party. In PKR, only part of the 30 seats is Muslim and the other part is non-Muslim. The DAP won 40 seats,” Hadi explained.

Oriental Daily reported that ethnic minorities have led to a minority government, which has led to many protests and dissatisfaction among UMNO members.

“This shows that many unhealthy things are happening.”

He insisted that Perikatan Nasional will not accept the Pakatan Harapan-led government because their supporters did not conform to the principles of the coalition struggle upheld by Perikatan Nasional.

It has been a few days since the new government was formed, and as Malaysians, we truly hope that the “political war” will end as the country is in need of saving to be great again.
