Anyone who is a regular road user would understand the frustration of having to give way to a VIP escort.

But, what if, anyone can become a VIP?

A recent post on social media showcases an advertisement offer for anyone who wants to become a VVIP of the Malaysia Ex-Police Association (PBPM), in which the perks allegedly includes police escorts.

Vvip 1 1

The advertisement shared that ‘honorary VVIP members’ would be allowed to have their car windows 100% tinted and will look ‘powerful and cool’. Police escorts are also offered to those who sign up as VVIPs, at RM300 per 10km.

Though, these advertisements appear to be scams as verified by PBPM themselves.

“Warning! PBPM does not appoint any external agents to sell ‘VVIP honorary member car crests’. Anyone who wants to register can do so at our official headquarters. Thank you,” they explained on their official Facebook page.

WORLD OF BUZZ Investigates

Does applying to become a VVIP at such associations entitle people to police escorts?

Posing as an interested party, we at WORLD OF BUZZ reached out to PBPM to find out and we can now tell you that it doesn’t.

Based on PBPM’s response, becoming an honorary VVIP member with them will only entitle you to:

  • a car sticker
  • a member card
  • a certificate
  • a car badge

Also, in order to become a member, one must make a minimum donation of RM6,000.

PBPM also confirmed that the advertisement posted by the ‘agent’ contains false information, and no, falling for the advertisement will not make you look ‘powerful and cool’.

We genuinely hope that netizens will be more wary of such advertisements on social media platforms.

Don’t fall prey to scammers!
