Following the constant surge of prices in goods, including the subsidised price of chickens, many Malaysians are crying foul over the food prices that are also on the rise.

Some of us even prefer to prepare our own meals at home and skip dining out in order to avoid spending more. However, a chicken rice vendor in Perak is also helping to ease the burden of its customers by maintaining the price for a plate of chicken rice at only RM3.60.

The price has remained the same for nine years!

Some of you may feel bad for the vendor who earns lesser following the increased price of goods, but he has a rather heartwarming response to that.

“It’s fine if I earn less, as long as the customers leave with a satisfied tummy!”

According to Sin Chew, the Hainanese Chicken Rice vendor in Kuala Kangsar, Tan, said that his business saw a drop of 20% when the price of goods started to soar. Fortunately for him, the drop did not stay long.

His customers started to return after finding out that the capped price of RM3.60 remains unchanged.

Tan’s decision to maintain the cheap price is not the only way for him to help the people. In fact, he gives away around 100 to 150 packs of chicken rice to the needy every two to three months.

Low price, ‘high quality’ taste

Despite the shockingly low price of the chicken rice, Sin Chew reported that some of the customers have spoken fondly about the taste of the food at the restaurant.

“It’s cheap. At only RM3.60, you can get a tasty chicken rice, which is rare,” a customer said.

The restaurant is known as Kuala Kangsar Hainanese Chicken Rice – 记得来 and we found out that the place receives a general rating of 5 stars from its fellow customers!

If you’re somewhere in Perak, have you ever heard of this restaurant? If you haven’t, will you consider giving this a try? RM3.60 for a plate of chicken rice is definitely RARE nowadays, and we are certainly grateful that there are still vendors who try to ease the burden of their customers.
