Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has urged the people, especially his UMNO party members to not ask for Pasir Salak MP Tajuddin Abdul Rahman to be dropped as Malaysia’s ambassador to Indonesia. According to Ismail, Tajuddin’s appointment has been approved by the Cabinet and endorsed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, hence questioning the appointment is akin to challenging the King’s authority.

As reported by Free Malaysia Today, the Prime Minister further revealed that the official appointment of Tajuddin for the role will happen soon. It was supposed to take place two weeks ago but was postponed as the King was unwell.

Ismail Sabri asserted,

“Let’s not question the Agong’s authority. He has endorsed the appointment, we cannot backtrack,”

Previously, Tajuddin was removed from his position as UMNO Supreme Council Member by its President Dato’ Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for an undisclosed reason. Furthermore, several UMNO youth member also called for the Pasar Salak MP to be removed from his role as Malaysian envoy to Indonesia.

These include Umno Youth exco member Muqharabbin Mokhtarrudin who said that while he respected the Tajuddin, his recent actions showed he did not deserve the envoy’s post. Meanwhile, Cheras Umno Youth chief Johari Yazid said the Pasir Salak MP did not deserve to be Malaysia’s ambassador to Indonesia because of his hot temper and “uncivilised approach” to resolving issues.
