This is a submission from an ongoing initiative by WORLD OF BUZZ to help those in need during this pandemic. If you would like to be involved in this campaign, please click here.

Despite the struggles everyone is going through, it’s inspiring to see some people still thinking about others!

With the initiation of the #KempenBenderaPutih campaign, we could truly see Malaysians coming together to help one another through these tough times. Taking this into stride, WORLD OF BUZZ, encouraged our readers to reach out to us and allow us to help you in whatever way possible.

Private investigator turned food vendor

Mahesh Ramadas is a double major who lost his job as a private investigator in 2020. Undeterred, Mahesh turned to the food industry and opened his own food cart, The Biryani Buritto, which used to operate right in front of NU Sentral in early 2021. He serves a hybrid fusion of classic wraps and flavourful biryani. As his target customers were corporate workers, he looked forward to their business. Unfortunately, when the lockdown started, he lost all financial ability to run his cart and wasn’t able to run his business for more than a month.

On numerous occasions, he bought stock but had to throw it all away including during the brief Ramadhan Bazaar period.

Doing what he loves while helping others

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Mahesh said he’s not sure if financial help will restore his business as people still can’t come out to buy his food. However, the generous food vendor says he has a different focus in mind during this challenging period of time. Mahesh is currently looking for collaborators to work with him and ensure that the hungry people on the streets are fed.

“I know people need food and profit is not much at consideration of mine at the moment.”

Previously, he had some sponsors coming in to request that he cook for Covid-19 centres on a non-profit basis. These opportunities lead to Mahesh believing that he could do what he loves while helping those in need. Since he has no customers coming to his stall, he decided that he could cook for struggling Malaysians in turn for the simple exchange of showing his love for food and to get his cart moving.

Mahesh also added that since he has a mobile cart equipped with both cooking and washing equipment, he would also be open to work opportunities, anywhere. Not only does he deliver cooked meals, he’s also open to cooking on-site for hot meals you can get straight off the grill!

Looking for collaborators to help the needy

Hence, Mahesh is now open to collaborations with any NGO or parties who are looking to provide hearty and delicious meals for struggling Malaysians out there. If you’re interested in checking out Mahesh’s scrumptious menu, you can do so by reaching out to him at his Instagram page, @meluha.spices.
