As if the 03′ batch or “Form Five ProMax” glamorously called haven’t been going through enough, a report was published in an online media portal stating that SPM 2020 will be an “open book test”.

While some might welcome this new method, an “open book” exam might just give the administrators to set a more difficult question paper. The Ministry of Education has however stressed today (8 February) that the SPM 2020 which is set to begin on 22 February will be conducted in the same format as the previous years.

In a statement from the Malaysian Examinations Board (LPM), the newspaper report related to changes in the format of the SPM examination in the future is not true and LPM has never made any confirmation on the matter. They added that the title and report from the publication have caused much confusion among SPM candidates.

The report from the portal stated that education experts are in support of “open-book tests” as a method to train students to think instead of just memorising facts.
