SPM Starts On 22 Feb, Face-to-Face Learning For SPM Students To End On 9 Feb

Director-General of Education, Datuk Dr Habibah Abdul Rahim announced that face-to-face learning at schools for SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia) and SVM (Sijil Vokasional Malaysia) students will end on 9 February 2021. Students can then study from home to prepare for their examinations.

In a letter to state education departments on 4 February 2021, Habibah mentioned that the decision was made to allow the students to study and prepare from home for the examinations that begin on 22 February 2021, according to Sin Chew.

She also added that students staying at hostels must continue staying, nevertheless, those who wish to celebrate Chinese New Year with their families can go home after 9 February.

Upon their return, they have to undergo a ten-day quarantine, and they will sit for the examinations in specially arranged classrooms. Parents or guardians of the students must inform the respective school authorities before 9 February on whether their child(ren) has chosen to continue staying home and will sit for the exams at the nearest designated exam halls, or return to their schools.

According to the Ministry of Education, the SPM, SVM and STAM (Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia) examinations will begin on 22 February 2021, whereas for STPM (Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia), the examinations will start from 8 March 2021.
