150kg Tapir Found Dead After Being Hit By A Vehicle In Kelantan
The habitat of the wildlife in Malaysia is shrinking rapidly with the opening of agricultural areas. These poor creatures are then forced to find a new habitat which puts them at risk of being exposed to dangerous situations, especially involving human beings.
Unfortunately, a Tapir has become another victim of human greed and negligence after the 150-kilogram animal was found dead in Kampung Sri 10, Jalan Sungai Durian-Chenulang, Kuala Krai. According to a statement issued by the Kelantan Wildlife Department, as reported by Awani, the tapir was hit by a vehicle in a dark downhill road in the village.
The statement also explained that some of the areas of the forest there have been converted into farms and this has forced the wildlife to move in order to find food and mate.
The Wildlife Department will be conducting regular night monitoring and patrols from time to time to prevent wildlife from coming out into the streets and putting themselves in danger.
