Birds have always been a great part of the living community on the planet, after all they eat bugs and sing beautiful songs.

Hence, why would anyone want to poison them?

The Pertubuhan Pasukan Tindakan Haiwan – AAT took to their Facebook page to showcase birds that have been poisoned by Malaysians.

They wrote,”The authorities will take action. The species of birds that were lost – Eurasian Tree Sparrows and Spotted Doves. Poisoning them without the proper authorisations is an offense under Section 31 of the Animal Welfare Act 2015 (Act 772). It demands a maximum fine of RM20,000 to RM100,000 or three years in jail or both.”

Many netizens took to the post to explain that the birds were poisoned by farmers who are worried about their crops, but also believe that there are more humane ways of protecting their harvests from the innocent little creatures.

Birds 5

This comment goes, “I always see them in the rice fields. What’s so wrong with them eating a little bit?”

Birds 4

This comment says, “How much can the birds even eat? They had the heart to do this? Not to mention that birds are going extinct because of deforestation and building houses, where are they going to find food?”

Which is true, we’re already seeing less and less birds, hence mass killing them like this would only cause more of an imbalance in the ecosystem.

We genuinely hope that the authorities take action against the people who poisoned those poor birds before they can kill more.

What do you think about this? Let us know in the comment section.
