Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has tested positive for Covid-19, along with his wife, Lauren Hashian, and his two daughters, Tiana and Jasmine.

In an Instagram video, he says that he would like to share an update on what has been going on for the past two to three weeks. He shared that this has been one of the most “challenging and difficult” things they have had to endure as a family and for him personally.

“Testing positive for Covid-19 is much different than overcoming nasty injuries or being evicted or being broke, which I have been more than a few times,” he said.

“The reason why I feel like this is different is because my number one priority is to always protect my family, protect my children.”

Johnson then assures his followers that he and his family are good and have since recovered from the disease.

“We are on the other end of it, we are on the other side and we are no longer contagious. We are, thank God, healthy. We have got through Covid-19 stronger and healthier,” he said.

Regarding the symptoms his family experienced, Johnson shared that Jasmine and Tia only had a little sore throat the first couple of days, but had bounced back and “it’s been life as normal”. He also said that they have been isolating as a family.

However, he shares that being infected with Covid-19 was a little bit different for him and his wife.

“It was a little bit different for Lauren and I, we had a rough go, but we got through it. We got through it as a family,” he said.

Johnson shares that they had contracted Covid-19 from very close family friends.

“These are people whom we love and trust and they are devastated that they are the ones who picked it up. They had no idea where they picked it up and they’re devastated that it led to them infecting our family.”

“Luckily, we were able to control it and mitigate it and it didn’t spread out of control.”

Johnson goes on to say that he was “disciplined, strict and stringent” before, but there is now going to be new rules that he’s implementing in his household.

“It baffles me that some people out there, including some politicians, would take this idea of wearing masks and make it part of a political agenda. It has nothing to do with politics.”

“Wear your masks. It is a fact and it is the right thing to do, it is the responsible thing to do. Not only for yourself, but for your family and your loved ones.”

Anyone can contract Covid-19, so please stay safe – wear a mask, maintain physical distancing and isolate yourself if you’re sick.
