In another incredibly irresponsible move, it has been found that a 42-year-old man from Ayer Itam, Penang, had breached home quarantine while wearing his wristband and was seen out in public. The individual, who works as a technician in Kulim, was said to have been reported by members of the public after he was found sporting a white home quarantine wristband in the Setia SPICE Convention Centre, located in Bayan Baru.

According to Chinese daily Guang Ming, the man was said to have tested negative for Covid-19 initially but was told to remain in home quarantine for another 14 days before going for another screening to ensure that he was free of the disease. He was reported to the authorities after he walked past a booth and an exhibitor noticed his wristband.

Southwest ocpd superintendent a. Anbalagan had said that the man was fined by the authorities for breaching home quarantine.

Despite attempting to leave after being caught, the auxiliary police managed to stop him in the nick of time and bought him to the Bayan Baru Police station. He was issued a RM1,000 fine for violating home-quarantine measures said Southwest OCPD Superintendent A.A. Anbalagan.

As we continue to see double-digit cases being reported in Malaysia on a near daily basis, it is important that we continue to abide by all the measures enforced by the government to curb the spread of Covid-19 locally. For those under home quarantine, please think of the wellbeing of those around you and stay home until you are declared safe.
