Well, for us in the office, crystal clear waters that are so clean, you can see right down to the bottom reminds us of one thing: Maldivian beaches. Famously picturesque with white shores and glittering waters, the island nation is truly a dream getaway for many people.

As it turns out, these photos weren’t taken in the Maldives. In fact, they were taken right here in Malaysia!

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Sungai Rambai, an incredible hidden gem located in Melaka that is famous for the clarity of its waters that almost mimics the very same ocean blues of an island paradise.

While the river itself has been known for its stunning views, the waters have grown to become considerably cleaner and indeed, clearer, as a result of less tourist traffic during the MCO period.

Videos uploaded recently by netizen Leonard Peters bear testament of that fact, and many have commented on the beauty of the river, as well as the temptation to leap headfirst in for a swim. But don’t do it!

Why? Because Sungai Rambai, while indubitably beautiful, is also inhabited by a local crocodile populationYikes.

According to our Department of Wildlife and National Parks (PERHILITAN), Sungai Rambai is home to a number of local crocodiles who often frequent its waters, making it a dangerous proposition to be swimming about. In fact, the crocodiles have been sighted in Sungai Rambai as far back as 2018, according to Harian Metro.

So while it is safe to visit the river and snap a few photos, we really do not recommend swimming there, unless you’re interested in possibly turning into a McValue Meal for the crocodiles!

Will you guys be visiting Sungai Rambai soon? Or have you already been there? Share your experiences with us!
