Birthday celebrations usually involve a nice cake for the person to cut and candles to blow, but this Malaysian lady got creative during her husband’s birthday recently. You’ve heard of nasi lemak cakes and even chicken rice cakes before but this lady actually went and made a laksa “cake” for her husband!

She posted the results on Facebook and netizens were surprised as they have never seen such a special cake before. She wrote, “Today (9th July) is my husband’s birthday and I wanted to give him a surprise. He’ll be coming back soon from work, and he doesn’t really like cake. So even if I bought him a cake for his birthday he would only eat a little bit. However, his favourite food is laksa and I’ve been thinking all day whether I should bake him a cake or cook some laksa for him.”

It appears that she finally decided to do both by making a laksa cake instead. She said that her whole family loves to eat laksa, which was also part of the reason why she came up with this idea. In the photos she shared, she shaped the cake out of the main laksa ingredients and it’s nothing like you’ve seen before.

The cake is made out of the laksa noodles while the vegetables and cucumber slices decorate the sides of the cake. Red chilli slices also add some colour to the cake to make it look more appetising. And in case it isn’t clear enough that it’s a birthday cake, she also added a “Happy Birthday” sign to top it off. Naturally, the soup is separated otherwise it would fall apart!

Her post went viral with over 2,200 comments as netizens loved the idea, with many of them praising her creativity in making such a cake for her husband. Others also tagged their friends and family, saying that they wanted a similar cake for their birthdays as well.

What do you think of this cake? Would you want one for your birthday?
