Oh, China, you weirdo, you. It’s not news that food with all kinds of bizarre flavours have made their debut in China in recent years, and they are also starting to cross over to inedibles…

From now on, you may no longer need to 5 consecutive alarms to wake you up because you have spicy toothpaste.

Shanghaiist shared an article yesterday (10 May) that a Chinese toothpaste company, Leng Suan Ling, collaborated with a hot pot chain “Xiao Long Kan”, and birthed a three-tiered spicy mala hotpot flavoured toothpaste set. Maybe mint-haters would enjoy this instead?

Unfortunately, it’s a limited-edition run only in China.

The set of toothpaste contains these three flavours: “Medium-spicy”, “Sichuan-spicy”, and “Absurdly-spicy”.

Omg, I already pass out at Sichuan food!

Within the first two to three days, it’s almost sold out with around 4000 units sold.

It is reported that the sales department has said that, “the level of spiciness depends on each person’s level of tolerance, however, ‘Absurdly-spicy’ may be really strong, and you may feel the burn after brushing your teeth”.

This became a hot discussion among netizens, with one of them who tried this fiery set of toothpaste commenting, “The ‘Sichuan-spicy’ is really TOO spicy, it’s not the kind of hot pot flavour that I imagined, it’s a weird kind of spiciness, and I can’t even stand brushing my teeth with it”.

Another buyer said, “I tried the ‘Medium-spicy’ one, and it’s already really spicy, but I enjoyed brushing my teeth with it because I can taste the hot pot flavour”.

A doctor from Nanjing, Dr Zhu, advised that this toothpaste may only be suitable for healthy people, and it’s not advisable for people with sensitive gums and oral ulcers as it will worsen the inflammation.

If you want to hop onto the bandwagon, you can get this from Chinese online stores.

No matter what, be sure take care of your oral health, guys.
